Ashdod Residents at Building Damaged by Rocket

Residents of the Israeli city of Ashdod gathered on Monday near a building damaged by a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip on Sunday, killing one person.

Footage shows residents and passers-by gathering around a building in Yehuda HaMaccabi Street. The explosion destroyed almost the entire wall of one bedroom of an apartment and damaged other rooms. Pieces of shrapnel were reportedly found in one apartment.

The attack killed a man identified as Israeli-American Pinchas Menachem Pashwazman. According to reports, the victim was in his early twenties and leaves a wife and a four-month-old baby behind. He was found on the staircase of the building in serious condition and later died in hospital.

Violence in Gaza escalated over the weekend, with Hamas and Israel exchanging rocket fire and air strikes on Saturday and Sunday, resulting in the deaths of four Israelis and at least 25 Palestinians.

A truce was agreed upon on Monday.

A large number of police officers and medics were filmed on the site of the rocket blast in the city of Ashdod, on Sunday, where a man identified as Pinchas Menachem Pashwazman was killed after the latest round of violence between Israel and forces in the Gaza Strip.
