Driver captures avalanch ripping through Ten Mile Canyon near I-70 in Colorado
An avalanche tore down a mountainside in Colorado’s Summit County and slumped across Interstate 70 on Sunday afternoon amid peak after-ski traffic, forcing state highway authorities to close one of the nation’s main east-west transportation routes.
Colorado Department of Transportation snow plows and Summit County emergency crews raced to the scene between Frisco and Copper Mountain shortly after 5 p.m. Snowplows cleared I-70 within 90 minutes.
