Yud Shevat with the Lubavitcher Rebbe

Below are two clips of the Lubavitcher Rebbe on the tenth of Shevat, the Yahrtzeit of his father in law the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe who passed in 1950, and the day he accepted upon himself the leadership as Rebbe one year later.

The first clip is from a television news report in 1980, the other, raw footage of the Rebbe in 1992 at the Previous Rebbe's Ohel in Queens, NY, just a few weeks before the Rebbe suffered a stroke.

The Clip that Started it all - Shortly after this clip aired on Yud Shevat 5740 (1980), Rabbi Yehuda Krinsky, assisted by his son Rabbi Hillel Dovid, screened this clip for the Rebbe. After hearing that the younger Rabbi Krinsky assisted the crew, the Rebbe instructed him to continue in this direction. Shortly thereafter, the young man had the idea to bring the Rebbe to wider audiences by televising full farbrengens via satellite, and JEM was born.

Highlights from 770 - the Lubavitcher Rebbe visits the Ohel on Yud Shevat, 5752/1992 -During the winter of 1992, a JEM film crew received special permission to photograph the Rebbe for a documentary ultimately released by JEM in cooperation with the Aleph Institute. One of the scenes filmed was the Rebbe's visit to the Ohel on his predecessor's Yahrzeit in 1992.
