Teens Assault Chasidic Boy in Williamsburg

An NYPD search for a group of teens wanted for throwing a pipe into a Williamsburg synagogue this past weekend has escalated, with the same group wanted for assaulting two Chasidic youngsters within moments of the incident.

As reported on VIN News (http://bit.ly/2zxelM1), a metal rod was thrown into the window of a synagogue located at 154 Franklin Avenue as congregants were davening Mincha on November 3rd.

Police said that two more incidents have been reported, with one member of the group flipping the hat off the head of a 14 year old Chasidic as he walked down the street as they headed towards the synagogue, and a ten year old Chasidic girl knocked down by the group as they fled the scene. Neither of the two Chasidic children was seriously injured.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit is investigating the matter and police are hoping that video footage of the attack will help them identify the suspects who are described as a group of male blacks, ranging between 12 to 15 years of age.

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information on the attacks.

Anyone with any knowledge of these incidents is asked to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline by phone at 800-577-TIPS, by text at 247637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577 or online at www.NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
