The evening of Friday, June 22, Pete Badgero, a maintenance technician at speedway at 85 Wheeler Road in Auburn, MI was driving a tractor along the track after it had rained. Somehow, the tractor and a Suburban that was on the track collided, which caused Badgero to fall.
Badgero lost his left leg below the knee, After he had fallen, the tractor continued moving on its own.
Speedway owner Steve Puvalowski said he jumped onto the tractor's backhoe and managed to bring the runaway vehicle to a halt.
