Look out for some changes in the sky on Sunday, when a supermoon will be visible.
Today's supermoon begins Sunday, December 3, 2017, starting at 10:47 AM ET, when the Moon is full and unusually close to the Earth. It is nearest at 3:42 AM ET on Dec 4, where is will be 222,135 miles form earth.
However, the normal observer will not notice the difference from full moon to full moon. It is a closer full moon than what you’d be used to, but not one that you’d be paying particular attention to.
What is a supermoon? Find out what makes the moon appear extra big and bright, how it effects the tides, and how the phenomenon got its name.
