Security Guard Stabbed at Jerusalem Bus Station

An Israeli security guard remains in serious condition after being stabbed outside the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem, Sunday. The attack was carried out by a 24-year-old Palestinian who has been captured at the scene and taken to custody, according to the police spokesman Mickey Rosenberg.

"We confirm that the terrorist attack was carried out by a Palestinian, it was a nationalistic attack. We saw tensions in and around Jerusalem over the last 48 to 72 hours both with disturbances that took place, local incidents in the area of the Old City and we heightened security in the area of the Old City," stated Rosenberg.

Protests have been ongoing in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip following US President Donald Trump’s recent announcement to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The decision caused an immediate outrage and fury from Palestinians, with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh calling for a "new intifada" against Israel.
