Thieves Make Biggest Mistake by Driving into BP

A short vehicle pursuit in Boro Park ended with a car crash, but thankfully no injuries.

Sources tell YWN that the incident began around 1:15PM at “Focus Camera” located on McDonald Avenue, when a male and female stole a laptop from the store. Employes quickly called Police as well as Shomrim, and began chasing the perpetrators, who fled in a vehicle headed towards into Boro Park. The vehicle, which allegedly was rented, smashed into as many as ten cars in the area of 46th Street between 16th and 17th Avenues. He was then boxed in by local residents, and the driver tried getting out by ramming the vehicle into a fire hydrant, nearly hitting a pedestrain. After realizing that he was surrounded, the perps bolted from the car and fled on foot – but while running, threw the laptop into a garden on the same street.

With residents yelling “Chaptzem”, he was chased until he was appreheded by Shomrim and the NYPD on 45th Street between 17th and 18th Avenues.

The laptop was recovered by police as evidence, and both suspects were taken into custody.

It was not known what they would be charged with.

Israeli Military Shoots Down Syrian Aircraft

The Israeli military shot down a Syrian fighter jet that infiltrated its airspace over the Golan Heights on Tuesday morning - the first such downing in decades, heightening tensions in the volatile plateau.

The military said a “Syrian aircraft infiltrated into Israeli air space” in the morning hours and that the military “intercepted the aircraft in mid-flight, using the Patriot air defense system.” The military would not say what type of aircraft was downed and said the circumstances of the incident were “unclear.”

A defense official identified the downed aircraft as a Sukhoi Su-24 Russian fighter plane. Perviously, it was reported to have been a MiG aircraft. He said the Syrian jet penetrated 800 meters (2,600 feet) into Israeli air space and tried to return to Syria after the Patriot missile was fired.

The crew managed to abandon the plane in time and landed in Syrian territory, the Israeli official said. It was the first such incident since the war with Lebanon in 1982, the official said. Israel has largely stayed on the sidelines of Syria’s civil war raging across the border. But Israeli leaders appear increasingly nervous about the possibility of al-Qaida-linked fighters occupying the Golan’s high ground over northern Israel.

Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said the aircraft had crossed into Israel in a “threatening way” and vowed to retaliate to any similar attempts in the future.

The Lubavitcher Nigun "Tiku Bachodesh" Music Video

The song and video was created for a children's rally of Lubavitcher youth. 27 Elul, 5774.

The tune was originally known as "A Nigun Leshabbos VeYom Tov." A sweet and enthusiastic melody in three parts, giving introspective expressiion and a deep yearning for religious inspiration and spiritual elevation. This nigunis of very early origin and is also widely spread among various Chassidic groups.

The third stanza of the song is commonly sung to the words "Tiku Bachodesh, Bachodesh Hashevii, Shuvo Yisroel." The story is told of a Chosid who returned home after spending the month of Tishrei in Lubavitch, Russia with the Rebbe Rashab fo Lubavitch (Rabbi Shlomom Dovber Schneersohn, 10 September 1892 - 21 March 1920). The Chosid, being just a simple G-d Fearing Jew, was unable to understand any of the Torah taught by the Rebbe, all he could repeat to his hometown residents were - in this very tune- the titles of three of the Maamorim (Chassidic discourses) delivered by the Rebbe:
"תקעו בחודש, בחודש השביעי, שובה ישראל"

The song in the video below tells of this story.

Sung by Eli Marcus and Benny Friedman. Music by Chony Milecki.

Daring Hiker Unhooks His Harness On 7000 ft Mountain

This hiker takes his life in his hands as he walks across one of the world’s most deadly hiking trails by unhooking the harness that's holding him secure above a 7,066ft drop.

Balancing precariously on a three-foot-long wooden plank, the daring traveler pretends to step off the path and dangles a foot above the drop. Tentatively putting one foot ahead of the other, he carefully shuffles along as he films the entire scene on a camera mounted on a selfie-stick.

The daredevil is attempting the stunning plank walk on Mount Hua Shan, just outside the city of Xi'an, in China.

The total length of the path is only a few hundred feet long but it is very dangerous as there are nothing but planks to walk on and a rail of chains to hold on to.

A slim harness keeps walkers from falling but there is no one to ensure that walkers wear their safety gear. The bold hiker films himself leaning over the edge of the plank, tethered to side of the mountain only by the slim harness which is clipped to the thin wire that runs down the side of the mountain.

But then he decides to unclip the the two straps that hook him to the from safety line and casually walks across the narrow plank.

‘Nah, don’t need it,’ he says to his camera before panning it around to show the undoubtedly stunning views around him.

Shauli "Don't Let Us Go" אל תעזבנו

Since 2010 singer/songwriter Shauli has been sharing his music with the world at large. It started with his debut EP Simcha Belibi, and was followed by three singles, all while he works his way to his second album.

With the fast approaching Yomim Noroim, Shauli decided that it was time to share a new song with the world. “Don’t Let Us Go” is about asking Hashem not to leave us. Beseeching him to always stay close to us, especially now in the end of days when things are so hard for Klal Yisroel. Besides for the original lyrics, the song features lyrics from Shema Koleinu “Al Tashlicheinu L’et Zikna, Kichlot Kocheinu Al Tazveinu.”

The song concludes with the Pasuk “Ahavti Etchem, Amar Hashem,” reminding us that Hashem loves us and if we need anything we just have to ask.

Shauli composed this song this past winter when he was through a bump in life. It was his way of praying to Hashem, and now he wants to share it with the world.

Video was shot and edited by Moshe Finkelstein of T & M Productions.
