Russian President Putin Meets With Rabbis
Israel’s Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef and former Chief Rabbi Yisroel Meir Lau met with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar in Moscow today, Wednesday.
The Rabbis attended a special ceremony marking the anniversary of the release of the Frierdiker Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, from Soviet prison. The rabbis were joined Alexander Boroda, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia, as well as a delegation of Rabbis from the Brussels-based Rabbinical Center of Europe.
Putin discussed the fight of Jewish people during WWII and the struggle that still exists today regarding anti-Semitism. He recalled his visit to Yad Vashem in Israel – a Holocaust museum – and also mentioned the Museum of Tolerance in Moscow, Putin relayed to the delegation that he intends to never forget and cherish the memories of those lost during the Holocaust, and prevent the recurrence of such a tragedy.

Terrorists in Gaza fired about 117 rockets at Israel on Tuesday, including a salvo of some 20-30 rockets - some of which reached the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv areas. The Iron Dome defense system intercepted about 29 projectiles.

Officially certified by Guinness World Records in May, Verrückt — which is German for “insane” — is 5 feet taller than the previous record holder, a water slide at a Rio de Janeiro country club.
Verrückt is precisely 168 feet 7 inches tall. To put that free fall in perspective, it’s longer than a plunge at Niagara Falls.
According to Schooley, owner Henry was at a trade show and simply decided he wanted to build the tallest, fastest water slide at one of his five Schlitterbahn water parks. He immediately shopped the idea to vendors, who declined, but he refused to be denied.
The opening of Verrückt has been delayed several times to ensure public safety. Originally set to open in May, there was a conveyor belt issue as recently as this week.
And there’s one more issue: the stairs. 260 steps to get to the top.” That’s about 17 stories.

Two Planes Almost Collide At Airport
Two planes had a near-miss on a runway in Barcelona’s El Prat airport and the incident was caught on camera. The footage shows an Utair Boeing 767-300 from Moscow aborting its landing to avoid a crash with Aerolineas Argentineas Airbus A340-300 that was preparing to take off for Buenos Aires. The Russian pilot performed a perfect emergency ‘go-around’ procedure and avoided a potential tragedy, even though airport officials claim there was never any danger of a collision as there was sufficient space to carry out a landing between the two planes.
