6th Day Of Search For Missing Man Peretz Sontag
Volunteers took off Thursday in a helicopter from Orange County in their continued search for missing Pomona man Peretz Sontag. Sontag, a businessman and father of seven, was last seen leaving his home in Pomona Friday morning. Volunteers flew over Harriman State Park and Stony Point, areas where signals from his cellphone were last detected. The helicopter also flew over portions of the Catskills, an area often frequented by Sontag. Other volunteers are searching throughout Orange and Rockland counties, as well as handing out fliers in the region.
The search is focused on looking for Sontag's car, which he was driving when he went missing. The car is a black 2012 Kia Optima sedan, with New York license plate number FZD-8413.

A guy was knocked off his bike by a pickup truck, but got saved by a mattress which fell from the very same car that hit him. The accident was caught on security cameras in the city of Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. According to eyewitnesses, the cyclist wasn’t injured.

Menachem Stark Hy"d Won Bobov Tzedakah Raffle
Last week Wednesday night, during the drawing of a tzedakah raffle, organizers were in for a surprise. The winner of the grand prize of $18,000 was none other than R’ Menachem Stark z”l, the Williamsburg baal tzedakah and baal chesed who was kidnapped and murdered on January 3rd. Menachem has bought two raffle books with 50 tickets each for $100 during a Chanukah tzedakah campaign.
Organizers say that Menachem purchased the raffle from a nephew of his. The raffle is organized by Keren Chassanim of Bobov, which helps chassanim with marriage costs. The drawing took place at the Bobover shul located at 4715 15th Avenue in Boro Park.

Family Of Peretz Sontag Pleads For His Safe Return
Hundreds of volunteers continue to search for a missing Pomona man. Peretz Sontag, well-known in the Orthodox Jewish community in Rockland, was last heard from Friday afternoon. Sontag's family gathered in Suffern today to plead with the public to help find the missing 50-year-old.
About 200 volunteers from the Hudson Valley and Brooklyn have been searching for Sontag since his disappearance. The focus of the search is on the 2012 black Kia Optima that Sontag was driving when he vanished. The reward from the family for information leading to Sontag's safe return has increased to $30,000.

Father Of 7 Peretz Sontag Missing In Monsey
Monsey Hatzolah is asking the public to be on the lookout for the following individual who has gone missing. His name is Peretz Sontag, 50-years old. He was last seen leaving his home in Wesley Hills (Monsey) home, on Friday morning around 11:30AM. He was driving a 2012 black Kia Optima, NY (gold) Plate # FZD 8413. Diver Fending Off Shark With Spear
A scuba diver caught his near brush with death on film when a shark tried to attack him as he swam in a reef in the western Caribbean Sea. Jason Dimitri was scuba diving near the Cayman Islands killing lion fish with a short spear when he noticed a Caribbean reef shark circling him. Dimitri, who says he was in about 70 feet of water, was able to fend the shark off with his spear.
Dimitri said he was culling the lionfish in an effort to protect the reef from the destruction they cause. The predatory breed has destroyed reef ecosystems from Florida to the Caribbean by eating all the native fish. Despite the scary moment, Dimitri may yet face the shark down again: "The shark was acting in his natural environment. I have no ill will toward him and will get back in the water and continue to protect the reef for future generations."

A cameraman got a little too close to the action and ended up unconscious and in hospital as a result. German Soccer PlayerHoffenheim captain Andreas Beck hurtled towards the touchline in a bid to keep the ball in play during his side’s home match with Mainz 05. He succeeded in doing so but then saw his momentum carry him over the advertising hoardings and crashing into the unsuspecting cameraman, knocking him out cold.

A River Is Reborn In The Israeli Desert
A rare natural wonder, the flooding of the Negev desert in Israel, was captured on video as the river Zin was reborn after several years of drought, The dramatic reappearance of the flood waters, caused by heavy mountain rainfall miles away, is eagerly awaited by a small group of villagers and one lucky dog lining the dry creek bed forged by previous flash floods over thousands of years.
The video is shot at a particularly dramatic locale, as the waters surge slowly over the dusty wash, heading for a sinkhole, and causing a miniature waterfall, incongruously set against the parched and bone dry desert landscape. Witnesses cheer the approach of the Zin, with children shouting joyously as the impressive wave crashes through, gaining in strength and roaring in intensity. The emergence of the Zin is unpredictable and it has been several years since enough rainfall accumulated to cause a flash flood. Bur Negev desert residents have an uncanny knack for predicting when the waters will once again flow, and being on hand to witness the rare event has been a rite of passage for countless generations. Luckily, this time, someone had a camera.
