Store owner Yanki Klein was standing behind the counter at the Gourmet Butcher Shop when two teens ran inside, and knocked over boxes of food and shelves. At least twenty more teens were crowded outside.
The violent vandalism happened in a matter of seconds around 9 p.m. on Saturday. Klein had opened his store after being closed for the Jewish holiday Succoth.
One of Klein’s customers grabbed a broom and prepared to fight the teens, before the mob ran away.
When the teens stormed inside, they not only ransacked the store, but also allegedly assaulted the owner’s 23-year-old brother. So far authorities haven’t had any luck in nabbing a suspect.
Police are investigating the incident, but said that it has not been considered a bias crime.
