News Update from Israel Motzei Shabbos August 2

The Israeli military says a soldier reported missing and kidnapped in Gaza Friday was R"L killed in action. There appears there is now DNA evidence that Hadar Goldin was killed, and they may even have part of the body.

Hadar was initially believed to have been kidnapped by militants just 90 minutes into a 72 hour cease fire Friday morning. The attack ultimately lead to the collapse of the ceasefire. Earlier that evening, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation in Gaza will continue according to Israel's security needs.  B"DE.

Israeli Airstrikes Target Gaza's Islamic University - Israel continued airstrikes across the Gaza Strip Friday and early Saturday, after a cease-fire that went into effect Friday morning fell apart. Israel targeted Gaza’s Islamic University, which it says housed a weapons manufacturing research center.


Gaza in Ruins: Israel strikes university, flattens buildings - Israel launched dozens of airstrikes across the Gaza Strip early on Saturday as part of a large-scale search for a soldier suspected of being captured by Hamas militants. Palestinian officials reported more than 150 airstrikes including one against Islamic University in Gaza City.


GRAPHIC: Bodies piled in Gaza flower shop as morgue evacuated from Rafah - About a dozen bodies were piled in a cold storeroom at the back of a flower shop in Rafah on Saturday as the city's main hospital morgue was evacuated the day before due to the Israeli attack. Meanwhile, survivors kept trying to salvage anything from debris and rubble of the totally destroyed residential neighborhood.
