Hamas militants push deep into Israel via tunnels - Despite an estimated 1,500 rockets launched from Gaza since the Mideast conflict began, Israel has suffered many fewer casualties. But the danger for Israel is real as Hamas militants travel further into Israel through tunnels. Barry Petersen reports.


Israel's former ambassador to the U.N. defended the military's ground offensive in Gaza Friday after 10 days of "tremendous restraint" following Hamas rocket attacks.





Death toll climbs as Israel continues Gaza bombardment - The Israeli military pounded the Gaza Strip with airstrikes for the twelfth day in a row. As Holly Williams explains, if Israel expands its ground offensive the price may be more bloodshed.



Ground Offensive: Israeli artillery bombardment intensifies across Gaza - The current Gaza, Israeli conflict has claimed 3 Israeli lives and over 300 Palestinian lives. The Israeli army has stepped up its ground operation in Gaza with tanks and machine-gun fire on the border. Hospitals in Gaza are struggling to cope with the influx of injured civilians. Caught in the cross fire are innocent civilians who have nowhere to turn. US President Barack Obama has warned Israel against further loss of innocent lives. RT's Harry Fear has more.

Searching for Palestinian rockets, Israel continues Gaza bombardment - The Israeli military continues to bombard the Gaza Strip, even with its troops on the ground. So far, Israel says this is a limited offensive aimed at destroying Palestinian rocket launchers. Holly Williams reports.


Families on the run in Gaza - BBC News - The number of people in Gaza seeking sanctuary from the conflict with Israel nearly doubled on Friday, the UN says. Relief workers in Gaza said there were now more than 40,000 people being protected in 34 UN shelters. It comes after Israel sent troops and tanks into Gaza on Thursday, targeting Hamas militants who are firing rockets into Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of a "significant expansion" of the offensive. The BBC's Lyse Doucet is in Gaza.
