Inside a Gaza hospital during Israeli ground offensive - BBC News - Israeli troops, backed by tanks and warplanes, have pushed into Gaza as part of a ground offensive that began on Thursday. At least 24 Palestinians have died, including a 5 month old baby. One Israeli soldier was also killed. Israel's military says the purpose of the ground attack is to target tunnels dug by Hamas along the border. The BBC's Paul Adams went inside Shifa hospital in Gaza City.

1st Day of IDF Ground Operation in Gaza - Following ten days of Hamas attacks against Israel by land, air, and sea -- and after repeated rejections of offers to deescalate the situation -- the Israel Defense Forces has started a new phase of Operation Protective Edge. A large IDF force of infantry, tanks, artillery, combat engineers, and field intelligence has entered the Gaza Strip to destroy the threat of Hamas' tunnels used to kidnap and murder Israelis.
