Kendel Felix Charged in Menachem Stark HY"D Murder

VIN News - A man who was involved in the killing of Brooklyn businessman Menachem Stark was charged Wednesday May 1 2014 and is being held without bond.

Kendel Felix, 26, who worked for a construction employee hired by Stark, was arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court Wednesday and did not enter a plea. The Crown Heights man is being charged with Stark’s murder after a four-month long search for his killers. Police believe Felix to be the main planner of the robbery attempt in January that ended with the suffocation and burning of Stark’s body.

Felix admitted to wanting to rob him, but said they did not intend to kill him. According to Felix, he and his two accomplices accidentally suffocated Stark during a struggle. His body was found in a trash can in Great Neck, L.I. The other two men have not yet been charged.

The men believed Stark to have quite a bit of money on him. It was later revealed that Stark owed more than $20,000 to a contractor among other debts. Felix will be indicted in court on Monday.

The Stark Family expressed relief and gratitude after arraignment.

Police zeroed in on the contractor who hired these men just over a week after the murder,” said the brother.  “Just 8 or 9 days after the murder they were already on the right track and they are working on building a case against all the men involved. This is far from finished.”
