Ball Triggers Geyser At Ballpark

Spring showers are nothing new in ballparks, but a geyser in the outfield?

At a recent weekday afternoon game at Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, Ind., a sprint to catch a foul ball triggered some good clean fun along the foul line when Fort Wayne TinCaps (Padres affiliate) infielder Fernando Perez ran into a sprinkler during the game versus the Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers affiliate). The Loons' Joey Curletta hit a pop-foul down the right field line in the top of the fifth inning, and Perez gave chase and he stepped on a hose connection at the base of the TinCaps bullpen. The ensuing geyser halted the game for 18 minutes while the water was stopped and the area around the bullpen mopped up.
