Experts Demolish Exactly Half a Building in China

A large tower block in north eastern China has been split perfectly in half by a controlled explosion.  Construction workers manually cut through supporting walls in the middle of the Xiangyun Building in the city of Shenyang, Liaoning Province, before explosives were used to precisely demolish just one side.

The job is believed to have been divided in two in order to reduce the risk to the tightly-packed surrounding buildings.  Once the rubble is cleared away, the plan is to turn the site into a commercial complex, with an indoor theme park, huge five-star hotel, hypermarket, and office block.
