Cousins Found Safe After Missing Shabbos In BP

VIN News - A frantic two hour search for two children who disappeared in Borough Park on Shabbos afternoon had a happy ending, as the pair was located, unharmed, several blocks away from their original location.

According to Boro Park Shomrim coordinator Motty Katz, the two four year old cousins were playing on a backyard swing set at their grandparents’ home at the corner of 14th Avenue and 51st Street in Borough Park when an unidentified woman entered the backyard at approximately 3 PM and began pushing the children on the swings.

A neighbor, who was also in the backyard, asked the woman who she was and she responded that she was babysitting the youngsters.  Both children live overseas and were in Borough Park to spend Pesach with their grandparents.

Police say that 46 year old Keren Cohen of Borough Park was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass and endangering the welfare of a child.  Both children were examined by Hatzalah and were found to be in good health.

According to Katz, Ms. Cohen repeatedly told police that she wanted to take the children to the park.

The woman accused of trying to take two young children from a Brooklyn home is saying the charges are a big misunderstanding.  Keren Cohen, the Borough Park woman accused of going to the backyard taking two four-year-old cousins was released on bond Sunday night.  Meanwhile, a friend of Cohen, who was at her arraignment Sunday night said the woman was not trying to harm the children but was simply trying to take them to the park. He said Cohen is from Israel and did not realize doing so would be perceived as a threat
