Torah Animal Museum In Borough Park To Close

A biblical taxidermy museum in Borough Park will soon close its doors. Torah Animal World holds hundreds of taxidermy animals mentioned in the Torah. Rabbi Shaul Shimon Deutsch, who runs the museum, says he had to make a decision to sell the building.

Deutsch says the museum, synagogue and food pantry he operates in the area have not seen many donations recently, which led to the building's closure. The collection of museum artifacts worth $1.5 million will be split between another borough park location and a museum branch in the Catskills.  Many of the animals in the collection were donated but others were paid for, including a $40,000 elephant head.  Deutsch said he doesn't want to sell building and is still holding out hope for a miracle.
