1944 German Officer POW Hit with Helmet
August 19 to 25, 1944. In liberated Paris German snipers, with their communications cut off, continue to shoot at the Allies.
US commanders decide to carry around Paris' streets a prisoner German officer on a Jeep, to have him order the cease fire to the still resisting soldiers. Just before the Jeep starts for its risky ride, a US officer hits the German in the head with his helmet.
