Benny Friedman Sings in Ichilov Hospital Tel Aviv

Benny Friedman arrived in Israel earlier this month to perform a number of concerts and to do his round of interviews after the release of his new album "Yesh Tikvah."

On the second day of his stay he received a phone call from Israeli radio personalty Menachem Toker. Toker told him that he is live on the air on his radio show "Kol Chai" and listening to the program was a woman fighting an illness. "She is very fond of the song 'Yesh Tikvah,' listens to it constantly and thinks about the lyrics" Toker said. He then asked Friedman if he was willing to travel to "Ichilov" Hospital in Tel Aviv - although the short notice - and surprise her there with some singing. Benny gladly accepted.

When he got to the hospital, the patient was completely surprised and very excited. Benny performed the hit "Yesh Tikvah" [again and again, at the request of the patient]. He then sang "B'sheim Hashem" and other songs of prayer like "Machnisei Rachamim", "Tefilah L'Oni" and more. It wasn't long before a group of Yeshiva students who were in the hospital, joined the spontaneous Kumzitz. There wasn't a dry eye in the group when it was over.

Before he left, Benny wished her a Refuah Shleimah and expressed his hope to sing for her again after she recovers and will be in a healthy state, adding excitedly, "we came here to strengthen others but in the end we were the ones strengthened.
