Life in Israel - When The Sirens Go Off

People running to safety at the Kosel while sirens warning of an oncoming missile.

Demonstration by a group of Arab students at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, in support of Hamas. The hypocrisy is revealed when the rocket alarm sounds off.

As this video proves, unlike the people of Israel, the people of Gaza receive their share of fair warning before the IDF bomb its precise target.

From the author: "Ben Yehudah Street and Jaffa Street as the Sirens go off in Jerusalem. Sorry about the profanity and my seemingly negative statement at the end of the video. Truth is, I really don't know what they were yelling from the top of the building but it didn't sound nice. May we see peace soon."

Warning: strong language (briefly).

Daily Life in Ashdod - During a Code Red

Sirens go off during what look like to be a basketball in Beer Sheva.

Nov 20, 2012 - Code Red Siren Heard Near Knesset in Jerusalem, Israel

Our kids talk about being in the bomb shelter in Beer Sheva, Israel during Operation Pillar of Cloud, November 2012. Thankfully, they don't really understand what "rockets" are so they don't get afraid...

Ramat gan "safari" zoo, you can see the lioness hear the 1st and more far away siren, great ears. Where's PETA YM"S when you need them?

This video provides some very brief instructions about what to do when an air raid siren goes off in Israel. The intention is to help you start a conversation with your kids. It is not a replacement for detailed instruction.

As war rages on between Israel and Hamas, 3.5 year old Solomon has been taught at his kindergarten in Tel Aviv about what to do during a siren (drop everything, move away from windows, gather outside in the corridor), and after real life practice with this today, all he can talk about is the big BOOM and the siren. He will not be fooled into believing it was a balloon.

From the author: "We took the kids away from the bombed south during operation Pillar of Defense. Even in safety, they still sense the threat. Take a look at their playground games..."
