Lincoln Square Synagogue, New York City. August 1994, shortly after the passing of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Shlomo Carlebach spent time studying in Lakewood under Rabbi Aharon Kotler. He soon thereafter joined Lubavitch in Crown Heights. He later left Chabad after not adhering to the Lubavitcher Rebbe regarding the fashion in which he conduced his concerts. His history with Lubavitch is part of what makes this eulogy all the more interesting.
