There's something about color footage which causes the reality of how this happened such a short time ago, to hit home a lot more than when seen in black and white.
German film portraiting the Warsaw Ghetto in its early days.

This is a film shot inside an open air prison. The people you see are not criminals, prisoners, or in anyway blameworthy. There houses and property was stolen from them, there bank accounts frozen, there home contents plundered. It's hard to accept that another Country would want your bedding, your pans, your chairs, tables and even your shoes and teeth, but this is what you are witnessing happening here. The Germans will forever be shamed by these old films and photos, and so they should be.
