Today is the 226th anniversary of the Tzadik Elimelech M'Lizhensk (Weissblum) Thousands of Chasidim from all around the world take part in prayers at the Tzadik’s tomb which will last till Thursday evening. As in previous years, Chasidim from Europe, USA, Canada and Israel will attend the ceremonies.
Rabbi Elimelech M'Lizhensk was one of the three most famous tzadikim in the entire history of Poland. He gained recognition as a healer of souls and bodies and as an active promoter of Chasidism. Elimelech wrote an infinite number of Kabalistic lectures and the treatise called ‘Noam Elimelech’, published in 1787, which comprises his outlook on the social and religious role of the Tzadik. Lizhensk became his first and most important center of Chasidism in all of Galicia.
