Rav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv, 101, was hospitalized Sunday February 05 2012, at Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Jerusalem after he felt ill. When he was taken to the hospital he was suffering from shortness of breath and low blood pressure. He is currently undergoing treatment for removing liquids from his lungs, after a decrease in heart function.
He appears to be fully conscious and is connected to an oxygen pump. Dozens of worried followers are near his room, praying for his recovery. The rabbi has been hospitalized several times lately and his medical condition is a cause of concern in chareidi communities worldwide.
People close to the rabbi ask the public to pray for Rav Yosef Sholom ben Chaya Mousha. They stress that he is fully conscious despite his medical condition.
