On May 17, 2011, GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and his wife Callista were hit with glittery confetti by a protester during the couple's appearance at a book-signing.
On February 2, 2012 it was Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's turn.
Protesters at a rally in Eagan, Minnesota, threw glitter at Romney before he took the stage, making him the latest candidate to be "glittered" by activists opposed to his position on Toevah rights. Romney, put a positive spin on the sparkle in his hair. "This is confetti! We just won Florida," he said as he took the stage.
