Parking in Brooklyn

Parking in New York City is never pretty or easy, So when the driver of a silver sedan found a slight break in a row of cars in the Bushwick neighbourhood of Brooklyn, he jumped at it – even though the space could only feasibly hold a car half its size. Police say if you hit another car and leave the scene, you could receive a ticket.

Dr. Middos is Still Alive!

The Return of The Absolutely Marvelous Middos Machine!

VIN News - After a twenty five year hiatus, some of the best loved characters in Jewish children’s music have been resurrected with today’s release of the fourth installment in the Marvelous Midos Machine album series.

Created by the venerable Abie Rotenberg, whose poignant lyrics and classic compositions have inspired countless music lovers for decades, the Marvelous Midos Machine used a memorable cast of characters including Shnooky and Shlumpy Shapiro, Dr. Middos, Dizzy and of course the Marvelous Midos Machine itself, to educate children about good midos in an lighthearted but meaningful way. Rotenberg partnered with Moshe Yess, a’h, on Up, Up and Away, the first episode of the Marvelous Midos Machine and with Rabbi Shmuel Klein, the voice of Dr. Midos, on the episode three, titled Does Anybody Know What Time It Is?

“I never thought there would be another episode of the Marvelous Midos Machine,” Abie Rotenberg told VIN News. “The original albums were created when my own children were small and now that the grandchildren have come along, new ideas and new material came up. I think the passing of Moshe Yess was also a catalyst for this album and there is a tribute to him on the inside cover.”

Episode four of the Marvelous Midos Machine, titled Shnooky’s Bar Mitzvah, takes place in 1988, picking up just one week after the end of episode three and explores new ground including exercising patience, forgoing an opportunity that is rightfully yours for the sake of another and enthusiasm. In keeping with its tradition of conveying lessons via quality music, Shnooky’s Bar Mitzvah features catchy songs, trademark Abie Rotenberg lyrics and guest appearances by Baruch Levine and Shlomo Simcha. Several of the Rotenberg grandchildren are featured on the album as well.

Glenn Beck Discusses Book of Lubavitcher Rebbe

Glenn Beck discusses "Toward a Meaningful Life: The Wisdom of the Rebbe Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson" by Simon Jacobson. Amazon.com Review: A wise man taught in Brooklyn for 44 years, influencing the lives of thousands and receiving accolades from heads of state. Little known outside of Jewish circles, the Rebbe, as Menachem Mendel Schneerson is lovingly known, was a fount of spiritual strength and good sense. Toward a Meaningful Life is an adaptation of his teachings that convey his strong message of love, productivity, education, and virtue, all with the grace of a good and loving God. This is the type of spiritual wisdom that can be turned to again and again.

Emotional Kumzitz with Yoel Zev of Japan Bochurem

From one of the participants: "A Kumzitz in an apartment in Yerushalayim Thursday night (Leil Shishi) with Yoel Zev Goldstein one of the three Bocherim who sat in jail in Japan. [It was beautiful and very spiritual."

Yoel Zev leading the Kumzitz, singing Reb Moshe Goldman's "Zoakti Eilecha Hashem" of Perek 142 of Tehillim, a Kapital extremely relevant to the situation he was in during his incarceration in Japan.

Please continue to Daven for Yaakov Yosef Ben Raizel who remains incarcerated in Japan pending a transfer to Israel.

Below are the words from Tehillim and its English translation.
זעקתי אליך ה', אמרתי אתה מחסי חלקי בארץ החיים
I have cried to you Hashem, I have said You are my refuge my portion in the land of the living

הקשיבה אל-רינתי כי-דלותי-מאוד
Attend to my cry for I am brought very low

הצילני מרודפיי כי אמצו ממני
deliver me from my persecutors for they are too strong for me

The Kapital (and song) ends with:
הוציאה ממסגר נפשי, להודות את-שמך וכו
Bring my soul out of prison, that I may give thanks to Your name etc.
(תהלים קמב)
