Tens of Thousands Gather at Kosel for Final Slichos 5772
Tens of thousands of people gathered at the Kosel for the last night of slichos before Yom Kippur to beseach Hakadosh Brachu Hu by the shaarei shamayim. The chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yonah Metzger and Rav Shlomo Amar led the tefilos - which drew such a crowd that not only was the whole Jewish Quarter closed to vehicles but at many places it was shut off to pedestrian traffic as well. On Friday, September 16, 2011, the Eight Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a draconian sentence on Sholom Rubashkin, a sentence which is essentially a life sentence for him and his wife and 10 children. We now have a unique opportunity -- for the sake of justice -- to express our outrage for this sentence and actually make a difference. If it can happen to Sholom Rubashkin it can happen to anyone!
The White House has released just TODAY a new tool to allow people to influence goverment called "We the People." It is essentially a petition site, and they promise: "If a petition meets the signature threshold, it will be reviewed by the Administration and an official response will be issued. And we’ll make sure that the petition is sent to the appropriate policy makers in the Administration." The White House promises an official response to every petition that garners at least 5000 signatures in a span of 30 days.
This is a petition that really matters, so please use this as an opportunity to help Sholom Rubashkin.

Misaskim’s Annual Tehillim
Thousands of children assembled for a unique gathering that marked their participation in Misaskim’s 18th annual Tehillim Asifah, Tuesday afternoon. Misaskim representatives coordinate this poignant event during Aseres Yemei Teshuvah to infuse strength and hope into all those in urgent need of a yeshuah. The main location of the asifah was at the Bobov Shul in Boro Park where children from more than 35 local yeshivas were bused in. Thousands more joined via satellite hookup across the nation and across the globe.

Liberal Women: Tzar Balie Chaim
Once again this liberal women with her camera roams the streets of Boro Park with what she thinks is a concern for Tzar Balie Chaim on a Minhag that goes back hundreds of years.
Her statement that Kapores have nothing to do with Yiddishkei or the Torah (sic) is obviously total Apikorses. Probably more naivete than anything else, nonetheless heretical.
Most people like the women in this video, think they act upon their strong morals, but i believe it is their weak character and clinical insecurities that are revealed.
Showing great concern for animals does not necessarily prove strong morals. The Nazis YM"S had organized programs and systems protecting and caring for animals while at the same time they were murdering millions of Jews and others in the most unfathomable cruel and inhumane ways. I am not C"V comparing these naive liberals to the Nazis, i'm simply bringing a point out.

Lavaya of Bochur who Drowned in Uman
The tragic accident occurred on Thursday, when Eliyah Eli and his brothers bathed in a deep-water reservoir before the Tashlich prayer. Shortly after entering the water, Eliyah disappeared from his brothers' sight. Only after long moments, his body was pulled out of the water – but it was too late and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Eli's funeral was scheduled to be held Sunday afternoon, but the Ukrainian authorities did not release the documents necessary in order to fly the body back to Israel.

How Big are Solar Flares' Eruptions?
When a rather large-sized (M 3.6 class) flare occurred near the edge of the Sun, it blew out a gorgeous, waving mass of erupting plasma that swirled and twisted over a 90-minute period (Feb. 24, 2011). This event was captured in extreme ultraviolet light by NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft . Some of the material blew out into space and other portions fell back to the surface. Because SDO images are super-HD, we can zoom in on the action and still see exquisite details. And using a cadence of a frame taken every 24 seconds, the sense of motion is, by all appearances, seamless. Sit back and enjoy the jaw-dropping solar show.

An exiled Libyan Jew says he has returned to his homeland to rebuild Tripoli’s main synagogue and promote tolerance now that Moammar Gadhafi has been ousted.
David Gerbi, 56, says he fled with his family to Rome in 1967 amid anger over the Mideast war in which Israel captured the Palestinian territories. Gadhafi expelled the rest of Libya’s Jewish small community two years later. Now Gerbi is back with an ambitious goal of restoring the destroyed Dar al-Bishi synagogue in Tripoli’s Old City. NYPD Arrest Frum Man Minutes Before Rosh Hashana
CH.info - It was a Rosh Hashana from hell for one Jew after he spent its first hours in the custody of the NYPD following a stupid altercation. Disturbing video footage, captured by an equally disturbed reader with a cell phone camera, shows a large number police officers manhandling the Jew who was trying to defend himself, constantly asking why he was being arrested.
The incident began unfolding within the eighteen minutes after Rosh Hashana had already begun near the intersection of Albany Avenue and Montgomery Street. Police officers pulled over a Jewish motorist who was in a hurry to get home just as the holiday was starting.
Passerbys called out to the cops to let the motorist go, saying that the holiday was starting. The impassive officers responded that “he broke the law and we will not let him go.” One bystander got vocal and police fixated on him.
First he was knocked to the ground by officers who immediately called for backup. Close to thirty officers responded and after wrestling back and forth the man was placed in cuffs and dragged into a waiting police car.
As he was being put into the cruiser the man was heard pleading with officers to let him go to Shul, and that it was his father’s Yohrtzeit, all of which fell on deaf ears.
