"The Copyright Project" Official Music Video

In this lighthearted look at the very serious problem of the illegal copying and downloading that has plagued the music business, Jewish music personalities join forces taking you through a day in the life of a fictitious Jewish singer, portrayed by Yoely Leibowitz.

Like everyone else, he is trying to earn an honest living, support his family and use his abilities to help others, but throughout the day he encounters former singers who have been forced to take other jobs as illegal copying and downloading has eaten away at their primary source of income.

The Music Video which was shot both in London and New York is Directed by Danny Finkelman, and Produced by FM Productions along with Sparks-Next for the AMI magazine. The Song which is both in Yiddish and English was written by the duo Motty Ilowitz & Moshe Kravitsky with original Music by Hershi Ginsberg as well as Motti Cohen.

"Well I used to be an entertainer Everyone knew me People ran into the stores To pick up a Copy of my latest cd That is of course Until the birth Of mp3s"

Shut the lights And curtains down My work is diminished Y’Copy paste a thousand times Parnassah is finished Not sure you get What I’m tryin to say So how’s about I turn Around and put it this way

A lot of money goes into The record labels And I just wanna put A little food on my table And give the world what to sing about But money talks and money walks And I’m running out

The drum man The base man And Johnny Guitar Don’t move a muscle Feel the hustle Get in the car But the pedal won’t do a thing F’The tank is empty Pay them money so you can sing

Hey I know you wanna sing along with everyone else But if you’re sharing music I’m losing all of my gelt Hold up there sonny cause heaven sees Every little deed

I’m trusting you Believe in you Look out for another Jew And you’re the man of the hour The boss the king Enabling Me To sing

You're all wasting your time. Your chances of getting results are as good as those of the jewish wedding bands who thought they can prevent the one man bands from taking over.

I think that if the performers shifted away from albums to 1-3 song productions that sell for $1 to $2.50, or perhaps $5 at the absolute most when a top performer and a tzedoko are involved, they'd sell more and copying would stop. You'd still have the real offenders who sell copied music, but it would keep those who just don't have $15 happy and away from their friend's albums. The copiers are Creedmoorer Chassidim who usually are into plenty of other shticks; so we should NAME them, and then we SHAME them, and not be the ones who MAINTAIN them, cuz they're lowlives stealing GELT, making dirty GELT, by selling things they stole and taking from you GELT...!

It would allow the performers to keep current with fans by releasing songs a few times a year rather than once every two years, and customers would not even notice the small amount they are paying for new songs. This way, even if some lowlife does copy, more people will pay and they'll pay more often. A single can be issued on iTunes as well as via Mostly Music so it can reach a larger audience than it would as a disk.

Most albums are not profitable in any event; this might at least cut the losses or allow for a small amount of regular profit that keeps everyone happy and the copycats at bay.
