Levaya of Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz

YWN - Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz ZT"L passed away after he was rushed to Shaarei Tzedek hospital after collapsing late Shabbos afternoon. He was placed on a respirator and was in extremly critical condition until his Petira on Monday.

Rav Lefkowitz, who was 97-years-old, had been staying in Katamon (Yerushalayim) since last Monday, reportedly to rest. He collapsed during Shalosh Seudos, and was taken to the hospital by MDA Paramedics and Ichud Hatzolah.

For more than 50 years Rav Lefkowitz served as Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Ponovezh L’Tzeirim, teaching thousands upon thousands of Talmidim. Rav Michel Yehudah was a member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel Hatorah, and was the person who released the Chiddushei Rav Shlomo, the Shiurim of Rav Shlomo Heiman.
