The trouble with Rabbi Tendler is that he thoght the exact same thing of his great father in law The Posek Hador, R' Moshe Feinstein. It is known to all and to the Feinstein family that Tendler manufactured many psokim and rulings in the name of R' Moshe which were actually his own college driven opinions. Nothing wrong with having his opinion and rulings. Just don't say they were R' Moshe's.

(Rabbi) Dr. Tendler is an long known opikoires. He is exactly what the reform use to be in the old days. He's trying to modify the torah with his professional studies. זאת התורה לא תהא מוחלפת ולא תהא תורה אחרת מאת הבורא יתברך שמו. Same here and same with "metzitzah bepeh". The only ones to say their opinion in torah are the gedolei hatorah who did NOT study medical in University. דעת תורה היפך דעת בעל הבית. So Tendler, you may be a good doctor, even a doctor a talmid chacham, (we’ve had a lot of them in the past), but leave the torah issues to real rabbunim. His great Shver R' Moshe Ztz"l once had somebody who said on his p'sak that its daas baal habyis, so he said that he thinks that not because he learned thru the Shilcun aruch 300 times. That's a daas toire. He didn't study medical college to write a p'sak on these medical issue.

Yiddishkind,

Once Reb Moshe was matir riding a ship on shabbos.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe wrote to him saying how he humbly disagrees. He said that mistamma the reason that Reb Moshe erred was not because of a lack of knowledge in halacha but a lack of knowledge of how ships work. Being an engineer, the Rebbe explained to him the mechanics of it. Reb Moshe acknowledged the error, reversed his decision and publicized it is as such in a letter. This letter is I beleive published in his Igros.

The point is that anyone not versed in the science of it has no reshus to pasken.

How can you paskin without knowing the metzius of the shailah. would you bring a kessem to a blind godol hador? would he paskin? I think that this is Tendler's point
