Maccabeats Gets National Media Attention

On November 26th, 2010 a Jewish acapella group from YU the Maccabeats, released a parody single entitled “Candelight“. A video was made for the single and put on Youtube. Within one week the video was already over one million hits and still climbing. Radio station, television, everyone was clamoring after these talented group of young men. The concept of the song/video was to show the world the story of Chanukah is a interesting and fun way. On this very special edition of the Z Report, Yossi “Z”weig of TheJewishInsights.com sits down with four members of the famed Maccabeats group backstage at the yearly YU Chanukah concert to talk about their success.




AP - A singing group from Yeshiva University has a Hanukkah hit on their hands. 'Candlelight,' a remake of a pop song, has gotten well over 2 million views online. (Dec. 7).

Yeshiva University's Maccabeats featured on the Today Show by Matt Lauer, Al Roker and Meridith Veira. They liked the song a lot but Matt Lauer jested about taking legal action because they also did a spoof of this song.
