Welterweight Dmitriy Salita (32-1-1, 17 KOs) (an orthodox Jew) scored a punishing third round KO over late sub James Wayka (16-10-1, 8 KOs) on Thursday night at the famed Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Salita used a brutal body attack to dropped Wayka twice in round two and twice more in round three before the fight was waved off by referee David Fields. Time was 1:53. Salita claimed the vacant NY State title.
Salita lost his previous fight just over a year ago when Amir Khan knocked him out in the first round of their much awaited fight, 76 Seconds to be exact. That was Salita's only loss of his career.
