Yeshiva University's Maccabeats Release CD

The student a cappella group, The Maccabeats, celebrated the release of their first CD, "Voices from the Heights," with a free concert. Despite the late hour, the concert was attended by over 600 fans, including students from both the Wilf and Beren campuses as well as from other colleges and high schools.

The group, led by Julian Horowitz since its inception three years ago, has made a name for itself throughout the tri-state area. They sang in Madison Square Garden at the YU Commencement in 2009 and they were honored collectively at last years Hanukkah Dinner.

The new album is full of catchy, original arrangements and features special guest, President Richard M. Joel, singing as lead vocalist on one of the tracks.

After the concert, The Maccabeats aired the debut of their music video with their cover version of Matisyahu's hit song "One Day" at an after-party in Belfer.
