From the author "Jewish settlements in the (occupied) liberated (Ed.) West Bank - home to about 300,000 Israelis -- are a crucial issue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and one that threatens to derail prospects for peace. U.S. President Barack Obama has called for a freeze on all settlement activity in the West Bank. Washington has said in no uncertain terms that Israel's expansion of existing settlements must stop. On Sunday, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will not build new West Bank settlements. But he said Israelis in the West Bank will be allowed to "lead normal lives" and raise children, meaning that construction in existing settlements will accommodate the natural growth of populations. VOA's Jerusalem correspondent Luis Ramirez reports on a Jewish settlement located near a Palestinian village and the tensions between the two."
