Motzei Shabbos December 20, 2008.
Queens College, Queens NY.
Avraham Fried had his A-Game on with a spectacular performance even after spending the previous 25 hours stuck at New York City's JFK Airport with no food or bed. Avremel, who was flying from Israel with a stopover, had his arrival delayed and ended up arriving several minutes before candle-lighting time. He had no choice but to spend Shabbos alone at JFK with no food, never mind wine for kiddush, and wait it out. After Shabbos was over he arrived at his home in Crown Heights, ate a quick meal, put one his kapata (or bekeshah or frock, whatever flows your way! basically his Shabbos Cloths!) and made his way to Queens for the concert. At the concert Fried was masterful and at one point when he sang an oldie "You're Never Alone" he added "even in JFK!"
