Are They Jews or Not?

Nov. 14 - A community of "African Hebrews" has been given permission to build its first settlement in the Israeli desert almost 40 years after arriving in the Holy land.

The African Hebrew Israelites moved from the United States in 1969, following what they believe was an angel's order to move to Israel.

But despite observing Jewish holidays and practices, they were never recognised as Jews by Israeli authorities.

Sonia Legg reports.
