Missing Boy Found in Safe In Kiryas Joel
State police say a 10-year-old special needs boy who went missing Sunday in Orange County has been found safe.
The boy, Simon Zorger, went missing near Lizensk Boulevard, a densely populated cul de sac off Schunnemunk Road in Kiryas Joel.
The boy was found a half-mile from where he was last seen near a girl's school off Mountain Road in Kiryas Joel. A local volunteer spotted the boy along with another volunteer and a state police trooper. The boy is autistic and has wandered off before.
Police say he is in good health, but he was taken to Westchester County Medical Center to be checked out. Simon's family is from Williamsburg Brooklyn, and he wandered away from the yard of his grandparents' home, where the family was visiting.
His family released a statement: "We are grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of concern and support from our loved ones and all of our friends and neighbors as well as the rescue personnel involved in the search. Our son is in good condition at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at Westchester Medical Center. As we move forward we ask that you honor our family's request for privacy so we can focus on his care. Thank you."

Massive Search For Autistic Child Missing In Kiryas Joel
Authorities are searching for a 10-year-old autistic boy who went missing Sunday in the village of Kiryas Joel in Orange County.
Search teams worked through the night looking for Shimon Zorger. The little boy from Brooklyn was playing with his father in his grandparent’s yard when authorities said he wandered away sometime before 6 p.m. Community public safety teams from as far as Brooklyn have been working with state police and K-9 units trying to track Shimon down.
The little boy was last seen wearing a black and white shirt. Anyone who may have seen him is asked to call police.
Update 10:15am - After a frantic search that last over twelve hours, Shimon Zorger, the 10 year old Williamsburg boy who vanished last night in Kiryas Joel, has been located. “We found him,” Moses Vitriol, director of the Kiryas Joel Public Safety Patrol, told VIN News. It was New York State Trooper Danny Harter who found the missing autistic boy in the woods. Zorger, who is reportedly in good condition, is being transported to Westchester Medical Center as a precautionary measure.

VIN News - Rabbi Ovadia Isakov, 40, Chabad-Lubavitch emissary and chief rabbi of Derbent in the Republic of Dagestan, is much improved following emergency surgery for injuries to his internal organs after being shot by assailants near his home Doctors at Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah, Israel, have reported that the complex operation went “very well,” and the bleeding in the rabbi’s liver has stopped. Isakov’s condition has been upgraded to “satisfactory,” and he was conscious as of Friday evening.Hours after initial surgery in Derbent,
the rabbi was flown to Israel in a chartered emergency rescue plane, accompanied by a team of doctors and paramedics. The rabbi was first transferred by helicopter from the hospital in Derbent to the airport in Makhachkala, nearly 200 miles away.
The flight was arranged by Rabbi Berel Lazar, the chief Rabbi of Russia, working with the international unit of the ZAKA emergency service team in Israel.
The rabbi was returning from performing a ritual slaughter for kosher meat when he was attacked as he stepped out of his car. Local officials were investigating conflicting reports that either one or three assailants were involved in the attack. Russia’s Investigative Committee said in a statement that the rabbi’s Jewish appearance “is among the possible motives investigators are considering for the attack.” Those involved escaped from the crime scene.
