President Trump Interview with Chris Wallace of Fox News

The president sat down with "Fox News Sunday" for a wide-ranging conversation

President Trump, in an exclusive interview with Fox News, challenged his critics on his handling of the coronavirus pandemic, threatened a veto for the defense bill, and speculated on whether he will accept the results if his Democratic challenger wins the presidency in November.

Trump, in a contentious sitdown that aired Sunday, told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace that recent statistics regarding COVID-19 cases and deaths are misleading. Early in the discussion, the president disputed Wallace’s claim that the U.S. currently has the seventh-highest mortality rate in the world.

Moderna Vaccine Produced Antibodies in All Patients Tested

Moderna Inc.’s Covid-19 vaccine produced antibodies to the coronavirus in all patients tested in an initial safety trial, federal researchers said, clearing an important milestone as the U.S. continues to grapple with a surge in new infections.

The findings are likely to increase hopes that a vaccine can be brought to market quickly. However, a number of patients in the trial experienced side effects, some of them severe. The vaccine will move into a much larger late-stage trial later this month that’s likely to determine whether it’s approved by U.S. regulators.

The neutralizing antibody levels in the trial produced were equivalent to the upper half of what’s seen in patients who get infected with the virus and recover, according to the results published Tuesday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

While stimulating production of neutralizing antibodies doesn’t prove a vaccine will be effective, it’s considered an important early step in testing. Meanwhile, the side effects reported weren’t severe enough in the majority of patients to preclude further testing, according to the report by researchers from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Avraham Fried & Eli Marcus "Uba'eis Hahi"

Song Dedicated to Miracle Sefer Torah Released

A brand-new musical collaboration between Avraham Fried, Eli Marcus, and Yossi Green has just been released to the public. The song, Ub’ais Hahi, commemorates the moving display of Jewish unity around the Miracle Sefer Torah in the darkest days of the virus just over two months ago.

The lyrics are a moving verse from Sefer Daniel: “...It will be a time of trouble, the likes of which have never been since the nation came into being. At that time, your people will be rescued, all who are found inscribed in the book.”

The “book”, the Lubavitcher Rebbe said, is a reference to the Sefer Torah.

Shloimy Greenwald, of United for Protection, said, “After the truly monumental achdus this Sefer Torah brought about, we thought it would be fitting to enshrine that moment in a song, in celebration.”

Yossi Green, the prolific composer responsible for countless Jewish music classics, composed the song. Avraham Friend and Eli Marcus lend their signature talents to the heartfelt rendition.

Though the song commemorates a past triumph, the opportunity to join the outpouring of unity still remains. A second Sefer Torah dedicated to the heroic Hatzalah volunteers has available letters. Go to Unitedforprotection.com to join the Torah today.

Faulty Hydroxychloroquine Data: 'Political Hit Job'

A retracted study on hydroxychloroquine and news that the coronavirus may be mutating drew reactions Friday night from Fox News medical contributor Dr. Marc Siegel.

"So Lancet, with egg on its face, a renowned journal, is suddenly withdrawing this study," Siegel noted during an appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight"

Surgisphere Corp. was called into question.

A database by Surgisphere Corp. of Chicago was used in an observational study of nearly 100,000 patients that appeared May 22 in The Lancet, an influential medical journal. The study tied the malaria drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine to a higher risk of death in hospitalized patients with the virus.

The validity of the data, however, has been called into question. The Guardian reports that Surgisphere “has so far failed to adequately explain its data or methodology” and says the company’s “handful of employees appear to include a science fiction writer and an adult-content model.”

Siegel now says the only question is whether the malaria drugs work.

"Does hydroxychloroquine actually work early in the game to help decrease the symptoms of COVID-19? It's been studied in the lab as an antiviral," Siegel said. "Medical, we don't know yet. Political, we know this is a political hit job."

Siegel also addressed that doctors at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) said Thursday that the coronavirus appears to be declining both in virulence and in its infection rate.

"The virus appears to be getting milder. People who are being admitted have milder symptoms. We heard the same thing out of northern Italy," Siegel said. "And guess what? I have been hearing the same thing from many doctors here in New York City over the past week or two."

Walmart is Open, Why Not Us?

America cannot wait one minute longer to help its small businesses drowning during the coronavirus shutdowns, "Reopen New York" petition founder Simcha Minkowitz stated Friday.

In an interview with "Fox & Friends" host Ainsley Earhardt, Minkowitz – who owns Amor Fine Jewelry in Brooklyn – explained that she helped found the coalition because of two friends whose lives were "shattered" after they were forced to permanently shutter their businesses crumbling under the strain of the economic crisis.

"I'm just one person that knows two people. So every single one of us knows someone that's hurting and we are all connected," she remarked. "And if the small businesses of America suffer, we all suffer. It's just that I cannot stand by and watch."

Minkowitz, who just opened her store 20 months ago, had taken out "tremendous" loans to do so. She felt she had to speak up for those who found themselves in a similar position.

Her initiative, "Reopen New York," created a petition to urge Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo to "get back to business." The group rallied in front of the Statue of Liberty on Wednesday. Their petition now has almost 8,000 signatures and the tally is steadily climbing.

"We are all connected. And, the small businesses of America are the backbone of our country..." she pointed out.

"We chose to do the press conference right by the Statue of Liberty because that's why people came here. They took tremendous risk to come to this country. My parents are immigrants. They worked really hard to give us a beautiful life," Minkowitz added.

"And, it's really maddening to see Walmart’s earnings soaring 10 percent literally in this past month. And, they can sell whatever. All [of] their nonessential aisles are open. So, why not give us a chance?"

‘Why Are Our Politicians Favoring The Chain Stores?’

It’s been almost eight weeks since Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered non-essential businesses to close, and there’s a dire prediction that many will never reopen.

CBS2’s Tony Aiello checked in with one Brooklyn businesswoman whose plea for help has gone viral on social media.

It’s a tale of two business models. Big box stores are open and drawing crowds, while small family-owned businesses have been deemed non-essential and mandated to stay closed.

“I cannot be trusted to open my door to one client at a time? Why are our politicians favoring the chain stores?” jewelry store owner Simcha Minkowitz says in a video that’s been viewed more than 270,000 times on social media by others since originally being posted on Facebook and Instagram.

Minkowitz and her husband dutifully closed their Borough Park store right before the busy Passover season.

“It was devastating, and we did it with love. We closed our doors with love because we knew we had to,” Minkowitz said.

As the lockdown has dragged on, Minkowitz has come to believe she can safely reopen, sanitizing every surface and allowing only one or two customers inside at a time.

“I think I’d be able to sanitize my space better than a large Target, let’s say, or a large Costco,” she said.

With six kids, she has every incentive to be careful, and she believes it’s time to let people assess their own tolerance for risk and shop accordingly.

WH Press Secretary Turns Table on Reporter's Question

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany Is Asked Why She Downplayed Coronavirus Threat — And She Turns The Tables On The Media

In her second official briefing before the White House press corps, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was asked about a comment she made on Feb. 25 on Fox Business Channel, in which she said that because of President Donald Trump, “we will not see diseases like the coronavirus come here.”

At the time, McEnany was working for the Trump campaign as national press secretary.

On Wednesday, Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason asked her whether she would take the comment back, given what has happened since then.

But McEnany tried to turn the tables on the media, suggesting that a number of outlets also downplayed the threat of the coronavirus.

“I was asked a question on Fox Business about the president’s travel restrictions,” she said. “I noted what was the intent behind those travel restrictions, which is, we will not see coronavirus come here. We will not see terrorism come here, referring to an earlier set of travel restrictions.” She added by giving examples of where the media themselves downplayed the virus.

McEnany was clearly prepared for the question, as she read from notes as she went down the list of examples. More than anything, it signals that she will come to the briefings armed with lines of counterattacks on the media itself should they be needed.

Reporter Challenges NYC Mayor on "Tale of Two Cities"

This morning during his daily coronavirus briefing, Mayor de Blasio's  received a question from the Hamodia regarding the alleged double standard and special treatment the Mayor has placed on the Jewish community in Williamsburg and Boro Park.

A large funeral in Williamsburg drew national attention after the mayor singled out the Jewish community in a tweet last week. The following day it was reported that the police were giving out summons to those seen walking in public without a mask. This all, while scenes of crowded parks around the city were seen all over the internet, without any police harassment.  Furthermore, instead of fining those without face coverings, the police were seen distributing mask to those who didn't have.
