Do You Recognize This Song?

"Close Every Door" is a song from the musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" by English lyricist, and author Tim Rice and English composer of musical theater Andrew Lloyd Webber. The show was first presented at a middle school for boys in London in 1968.It is the penultimate song of the first act of the musical, sung by Joseph while imprisoned for his supposed relationship with Potiphar's wife.

In addition to voicing Joseph's despair at being jailed for a crime he did not commit, the song appears to contain oblique references to the Jewish Holocaust of World War II. Lyrics such as "Just give me a number/Instead of my name ... Destroy me completely/Then throw me away" reflect the well-documented Nazi practices of tattooing numbers on imprisoned Jews and working them to death (or gassing them) in concentration camps, then burning the bodies or burying them in mass graves.

Jews and Baseball - Trailer

"JEWS AND BASEBALL: AN AMERICAN LOVE STORY portrays the contributions of Jewish major leaguers and the special meaning that baseball has had in the lives of American Jews. More than a film about sports, this is a story of immigration, assimilation, bigotry, heroism, the passing on of traditions, and the shattering of stereotypes.

The story is brought to life through Dustin Hoffman's narration, and interviews with dozens of passionate and articulate fans, writers, executives, and especially players including Al Rosen, Kevin Youkilis, Shawn Green, Bob Feller, Yogi Berra, and a rare interview with the Hall of Fame pitcher Sandy Koufax. Fans including Ron Howard and Larry King connect the stories of baseball to their own lives, and to the turbulent history of the last century. Their stories are inter-cut with dramatic and never-before-seen film clips and photos of great Jewish players, unforgettable games, and the broad sweep of American history."

"WARNING!: this is disturbing stuff.
A newborn fawn creates a dangerous situation when mom gets protective. Starts cute, ends scary.

The dog eventually left limping—since posting here we have been able to contact the lady. THE DOG IS OKAY, but traumatized. River, my deer-whispering cat, is fine—we'll see if he learned his lesson. We did call animal control, there was "nothing they could do" to prevent further trouble. Yes, my being there filming contributed to the problem, stressing the doe. And yes, I feel bad about it.

For anyone who's never seen a deer in their garden, it was all too easy to predict, but if you live in Cranbrook you have deer in your garden 100 days a year, nothing bad ever happens, so you forget it's unnatural. That's why I shared this video."

6,000 Attend Unprecedented Boro Park Rubashkin Event

Brooklyn, NY - A massive gathering was held in Borough Park last night to show support for Shalom Mordechai Rubashkin who is scheduled to be sentenced today. So many people came to show their support at the Bais Yaakov of Borough Park Hall that video screens were set up in classrooms, the lunchroom and the street to accommodate the overflow.

Approximately four to seven thousand people were in attendance at the event, which lasted from 9 PM until 12:30 AM. The event began with Tehillim from the Belzer Dayan, Rabbi Gross, followed by R' Pinchas Lipshitz, publisher of the Yated.

More than ten thousand more participated via telephone hookup and according to ColLive.com over 14,000 people around the world joined the event via their live video broadcast.

Reb Avraham Schorr spoke for approximately twenty minutes, suggesting that perhaps the reason that the secular courts are treating one of our own so harshly is that we ourselves have given power to the secular courts to decide the course of our lives by choosing to resolve our disputes there instead of taking matters to Beis Din.

Chazan Meir Boruch Cohen sang a touching rendition of Acheinu Kol Beis Yisroel, accompanied by the Shira Choir and was followed by the son in law of the Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Joel, Rov Shimon Zev Meisels, Rov of Yismach Moshe in Kiryas Joel. Prominent attorney Nathan Lewin, who is expected to represent Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin in his appeal, spoke in both Yiddish and English.

The final speaker of the evening was Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin's son, Getzel Rubashkin.
